NUTRITION
There are many, many ways to approach nutrition. The simplest, most effective way is the way most easily followed.
In my practice, nutritional assessment will begin with a short term data gathering process in order to determine what foods serve you personally. To assess the effects of particular foods on the system, we examine energy levels and moods following the consumption of individual foods, after two hours. It usually takes a few days to identify a foundational list of foods that will be beneficial. This method of observation eating, helps to cultivate self awareness and will help foster self care that will support long term health.
Once we have completed the initial food evaluation, favored foods are examined for their nutritional value. Dietary recommendations will focus on creating an overall balanced intake of proteins, fats, fruits, vegetables, liquids, carbohydrates and natural sugars. Balance is of the utmost importance. No two people respond to food in the same way. The dietary plan is extremely personalized and will continue to be refined.
Normally, high quality, fresh, whole food provides basic and stable metabolic resources to support a healthy system. In my practice, we will assess food allergies, and intolerances. We will emphasize the use of high quality, balanced foods to address nutritional deficiencies, Appropriate supplements may be recommended, though supplements are not typically suggested for long term use.
Your personalized dietary plan, will include a palette of nourishing, satisfying, non-irritating foods that can be easily obtained at your local, healthy food stores.
It is said that "the way to one's heart is often through the stomach." To me, that means that the mind and body do not have to divide energy to cope with digestion and absorption. The mind and body are free to live a happy, fulfilling life with the energy good foods offer.
